Eco Stuc Data Sheet

Eco Stuc also known as "Plâtre - chaux Vieujot" is a lime-plaster traditionally manufactured near Paris for the restoration of old buildings.

Definition

Eco Stuc is a gypsum – lime mortar that can be added with local aggregates in order to achieve the best integration of plastering in its environment and to minimize its ecological impact.
The sand must be calcareous or siliceous (for a papersanded finish, only calcareous). Its size must be less than 4 mm.
It has to be clean and undusted, without clay content, conform to norm NF P 18-301.

Application

Eco Stuc can be used in interior and in exterior.
These walls can be either homogeneous or composite (bricks, concrete, blocks, etc ...
It's appled by hand or py pumping

Advantages

Eco Stuc is based mainly on gypsum plaster (thus with low calcination temperature) and fat lime.
Very light (according the added agregates, consumption from 6 to 10 kg), Eco Stuc minimized transportation impact.
Added with local sand, Eco Stuc insures a good visual integration in local geology and environment.

Of course, Eco Stuc offers all the qualities of gypsum – lime mortars (unequaled breathing abilities, absence of shrinkage during the drying, easiness and safety to use, fire protection, surface hardening by carbonation.

Paper-sanded finish is also very easy to maintain.

Aspect and range

Eco Stuc have the bygone skin qualities, light color and light catching of the traditional Platre.com coatings.
Once paper-sanded Eco Stuc reveals the nature and color of the incorporated aggregates, allowing matching with local environnement (and with local concretes).
Of course, small changes in the final color can be observe according to changes in the color/granulometry of the sand.
Eco Stuc is mass-tinted in any asked color, to obtain any wanted background color.

Caution

Masonry that needs to be coated must be protected from unwanted water infiltration (water sipping, backsplash and rising by capillary action). The covers, gutters, rainwater pipes, projection covers, cornices, supports, zinc works, weatherings and splashboards, must perform their usual function).
Special care has to be taken with protections on walls exposed to prevailing winds.
Damage caused by back splashing can be avoided by building a 50 cm or ~ 20 inch high base-wall.

Preparatory conditions

The support must present a sufficient "scratch" surface for adhesion : refer to technical specifications.

Instructions

Working with lime-plaster is a matter of following the rules of the art and our technical specifications.
For special cases or for additional information, please contact us.

Because there is lime in the mix, it is imperative to wear gloves and protective glasses.

Eco Stuc Pierre should not be applied in very cold temperatures (not below 5 °C / 41 °F), or on a frozen or thawing support.
In hot weather, the coating needs to be protected from direct sun exposure while work is in progress and during the first days of drying (7 days). Do not apply the coating on very hot days or under direct sun.

Mixing ratio must be less than 1 volume of aggregates for 2 volumes of Eco Stuc. Considering classical bulk density of dry sand of 1,6, it means generally less than 1 for 1 in weight.
If dry, the sand can be added on site or, preferably, premixed with the product.
If wet, the sand must be added on site. Due to variations in water content, dosing will be made by volume. In this case, Eco Stuc will be first mixed with water and then the sand will be pourred in the obtained paste.
If several different sands are added dry, a pre-mixed form is highly recommended, to avoid mistakes.
It must form an homogeneous paste holding a load at least 3 – 4 cm thick.
If necessary for rough work, use MG 30 manual, MG 100 for spraying, or Eco Stuc.
Preferably the application should be done in one coat: otherwise apply successive layers of 25 to 35 mm thick, each one with cut finish.
Then, Eco Stuc is coated. This top layer must be 25 mm / 1 in. thick minimum in exterior (12 mm / ½ in. In interior).
One has about 2 hours to spread and float the product.
The setting occurs in the 2 to 3 following hours. The finishing usually begins in the afternoon when a peel comes off the sharpened tool: cutting (with "berthelet"), scraping with a nail-board, smoothing ( with a stainless steel tool).
After complete drying, the coating is paper-sanded with medium paper-sanded, by handed or with a vibrating tool.

Mixing ration and consumption

Mixing ratio must be less than 1 volume of aggregates for 2 volumes of Eco Stuc Pierre.
Considering classical bulk density of dry sand of 1,6, it means generally less than 1 for 1 in weight.

Consumption of Eco Stuc : from 6 to 10 kg/m² by cm of thickness according the ratio.
Consumption of aggregate : from 0 to 6 kg/m² by cm of thickness according the ratio.

Preservation

Eco Stuc : 4 months, away from humidity in a dry and clean storage room.
Aggregate : no limit.

Conditionning

25 kg lined paper bags, on wood pallets with streamers.
Compostable bags on demand.
Original or custom-tinted.
